About Me

My name is Chris McLaughlin. I'm a Creative Director/Art Director with 15+ years of experience developing and producing integrated campaigns for Fortune 500 brands spanning automotive, consumer packaged goods, financial services, Health Care, and education. I connect creative vision with business objectives, developing campaigns that look great and achieve measurable outcomes. I prioritize understanding the consumer and leveraging insights to create relatable content that drives engagement and loyalty. As a leader and mentor, I use my experience to get the best out of my teams and help team members grow into their next role.

I USED TO BE COOL In my past life before children (B.C), I wrote, recorded, and toured in bands. The bands I've been in have been featured on MTVU, MTV2, and MTV Latin America. When I was 17, my band opened for Jimmy Eat World. I also enjoy studio photography, snowboarding, and fashion. As of 2025, I'm a father to two beautiful kids. My lovely wife and I both work in advertising. We live in the suburbs of Detroit, in a beautiful town called Walled Lake.

If I get a minute to myself in the dead of night, I spend it writing screenplays for TV and film. And no, they're not about advertising.

Background and Heritage

I'm Chilean and Gringo, which explains my pocho Spanish, why I put hot sauce on everything and worry about my lawn lines being straight. My quest to find Chilean empanadas never ends. In 1988, when I was 8 years old, I shook the President of Chile's (Patricio Aylwin) hand. I grew up in Southern California, but I've been fortunate enough to live in San Diego, San Francisco, Miami, Minneapolis, and Chicago. I'm currently looking for freelance opportunities or full-time Creative Director positions.
